Nerja Parador (****)
| |
![]() | ![]() | |
The
parador in Nerja is a lovely modern building overlooking the blue Mediterranean
sea from the top of a dramatic cliff, similar to Aiguablava
Parador on the Costa Brava. Spacious rooms with big balconies overlooking
the pool or the sea, this parador is a firm favourite with northern-european holidaymakers
all year round. We went in early March and it was full. Nerja is a small town,
still relatively unspoilt compared to other areas of Costa del Sol because the
thriving tourist industry somehow manages to blend into the town and coast. The
parador is very well sign-posted and easy to find. | Nerja

Guests
at Nerja Parador have direct access down to Nerja Beach via a cliff lift at the
bottom of the parador garden. The beach is lovely and we recommend a walk at sunrise
or sunset. Fishing boats lie on the sand during the day, and indeed the seafood
is especially good in this area of the Costa del Sol. Try the local prawns (served
in the parador restaurant) - they are delicious.
The parador restaurant
is very good and, as a result, very popular, so make sure you get down quite early
for dinner as it fills up very quickly and you may have to wait for a table. Service
is friendly and professional, and the food is excellent. If you do have to wait,
you can do so in the adjoining piano bar which is very pleasant. The
lovely swimming pool, pleasant open spaces (when we went there was an interesting
art exhibition with works from a local artist), comfy rooms, very good breakfasts
and pleasant staff make this one of the paradors highly recommended by Euroresidentes.
