Spanish
paradors are a wonderful way of getting to know Spain. If you have ever wondered
what it would be like to sleep in a real castle surrounded by objects hundreds
of years old or if you enjoy rural tourism and would love to stay in a really
privileged spots from where you can experience nature first hand from the comfort
of a first class hotel, or if you want to tour around Spain and say at special
hotels where you can be sure of quality service, then the paradors of spain option
is definitely your best bet.
Categories
range from 3 stars (usually Spanish "finca" style hotels in rural Spain
with wonderful views or simple buildings set strategically along Spain's most
popular routes) to 5 stars (the most spectacular ones), but most are 4 stars and
are set in beautiful old buildings, monastries or castles. Other four star paradors
like Mojácar, Valencia El Saler, Aiguablava, Malaga Golf or Javea are modern
buildings, strategically near the best beaches, offering holidaymakers in Spain
the chance to enjoy a costa holiday on the Costa del Sol, Costa Brava or Costa
Blanca at a special hotel.
This guide to paradors is based
on our own personal experience and is not without criticism in some cases. While
the paradors in Spain still present travellers with good quality on the whole,
they are certainly not without fault. They are more expensive in relative terms
than they were a few years ago (unless you take advantage of one of their special
offers), and because of this, some need to spend time and money on a bit of refurbishing.
Very few paradors offer Internet access from the rooms, and we feel they should.
